Surrey newborn photoshoot in my home - is this for me?

I had my three children before I became a photographer. I wasn't aware at the time of in home newborn photo shoots. Many of my friends had newborn photos, however they were in a studio, posed, gorgeous, but not for me.

Looking back, I do wish I had professional pictures of my children as babies. I also wish I had maternity photos too, but that is another blog!

My in-home photography sessions are relaxed! There is no pressure for you to have a tidy house (please don't tidy your house for the shoot, no need)! These photos are for you and the session is meant to capture your family with your new addition. How you look, how you feel and who you are right now. The details of this crazy, sleep deprived time.

It doesn't matter if your baby is awake or asleep, if you need to feed or change their nappy. I will arrive at our agreed time and leave when I am happy I have everything I need, I will not be clock watching. I will normally take a few downstairs in the living room, then we move to the master bedroom and nursery.

I always feel that these are photos for the future you. They are so lovely to look back at and remember just how tiny your baby was. The little rolls of fat, the clip on their belly button, all the teeny tiny details that we forget as time goes by.

Little hands that cling to your finger tightly, the smallest finger nails you've ever seen, soft skin and milk breath. The overwhelming love, the unbelievable tiredness.

And the best thing about taking these pictures in your home, is that your baby is relaxed. If you have older children, they are relaxed too as you are at home in your safe environment with all the things you need.

I totally get that having your picture taken is the very last thing you feel like doing right now, but always remember this period of time is short, you have just grown and delivered a baby, one day you will look back at this time and you will have nothing but respect for yourself. These moments are all part of your amazing journey into parenthood, get that shoot booked in!
